the 5,000 meters & break the world record.

Coach & selector for Colombian team Pan

Skaters won 3 of the 5 total golds won by
Colombia, spent 4 months living in Colombia. Jan – April.
Coached Colombia for Pacific Rim Championships

Coached Indonesian Coaches & National teams
to prepare for Asian Champs, spent time in Jakarta, son Wayne helped teach
Hedrick style Skating technique.
Coach Australia Junior Oceania Champs Perth

personally coach win the only Australian medals, 2 gold, 2 silver & 2
Bronze, to top the ladies medal tally, My wife Cheryl Becomes the first
Australian to defend a world title when she retained the 1,500 road title, also
won the overall world number 1 title, Desly Hill wins the 300 meters the 1st
ever world title on Inline skates, & is 3rd overall.
At these championships I am elected for a 4 year
term to the C.I.C.
5 person World speed body, who run the sport,
the 1st ever appointed
Person from Asia or Oceania, it is rumored that
a big country sees this as the best way is to get me off the coaching scene,
this cost my pupils many world golds over the next four years, as during the
world champs I could not coach & had to be organizing & running the
world champs & presenting the medals. But I got the sport straightened out
& better competition resulted.
1991
Coach Colombia world champs worlds in Belgium,
my 2 current world Champions have both retired after winning in 1990, Colombia
wins a silver medal & my wife Cheryl skating for Australia, but living in
Colombia wins
Australia’s only medals 3 silvers, while the
other Australians averaged 27th.
Dispute after a race, sees me victimized &
in a Belgium jail for 4 to 5 hours, where corrupt police Blackmail me &
steal my money.

CUBA, skaters win two of Colombia’s 5 medals. Coach Colombia, Mexico, Mexico

1990
Coach of Colombia, In 23 previous years,
Colombia only had 4 placings at the previous world championships & no gold
medals at world championships In Meddellin Colombia win 3 gold 3 silver & 2
Bronze medals & finish number one World Nation, my wife coached by me,
living in Colombia but skating for Australia wins the 1,500 world Title &
second in the 10,000.
3 girls I personally coached all year, each one
a gold & a silver plus 2 of them a bronze also, so in the 6 ladies world
titles, they placed in all events, Two particular events, I had a major
influence in all 3 medals, Mens 20,000, Botero from Colombia won, 2nd
& 3rd were 2 Australians Keefe & Darnell who I had Coached
for many years previously in Australia.
In ladies 1,500 My wife Cheryl won, with
Colombian Girl Claudia Ruiz who I coached 2nd & Ann Woods from
Australia 3rd, Woods was coached by her husband Ron, who had lived in
our home when he went to the world champs, in 1982
1989
Coach of Australia World Championships
Hastings, Australia Finish number ONE WORLD NATION, we win 2 gold, 5 silver
& 4 Bronze, Stephen Whyte who lived with us, wins 2 world titles, & is
the best Male skater, dominating the powerful U.S.A. & Italian teams, in two
events I have 2 of the medallists.
In 11 of the 12 world titles, the people
I personally coached finish 4th or higher.
My wife Cheryl at 30 makes a comeback at world
level after a 3 year break from world championships, ends up 2nd in
5,000 pts & 4th in 3,000 & 1,500 & 2nd
overall..
1988

silver & 2 bronze medals.
Not official coach at worlds, Delegate for
International meeting.
Complete Level 3 Coaching Course in Australia,
1st in Australia for Roller sports, 10 years later still only level 3
fully accredited for our sport

World champs France, 2 men Keefe & Whyte
who live with me are beaten in a photo finish in the 20,000, finishing 2nd
& 3rd. a number of Australia’s top skaters retire after 1986
Australian worlds, 14 year old Desly Hill makes her first senior worlds
appearance, going on to win 4 gold & 14 placings at worlds in her career.

world medals, Joe Askew wins 300 time trial, first time since inception of
worlds since 1936, that Italian skater did not win men's road time trial,
reigning world champion & world record holder Italian skaters, DePersio
& Galliazo are second & third.

U.S.A. Colorado Springs Altitude, Only 1 bronze
medal, Coach Australia.

World champs Bogota extreme Altitude, Kevin
Webb wins bronze in 1,500 Men's relay team lose to France by 5 meters, but
defeat the U.S.A. by 18 sec & the Italians by 19 sec, in an event where with
3 competitors on a 400 meter track , recovery was a big problem, our superior
fitness paid dividends.

1983
Argentina, Coach Australia , Lee Hollis at 16
gains bronze medal, retires after 2 years earlier being the youngest ever world
champion, content to have won a full set of world medals, & being the
youngest ever world senior champion.
1982
The medaless year, after defeating the Italians
in Belgium, the Italians play Dirty, they manufacture wheels to suit the road
& track courses, that are not available to anyone else, they win 18 0f the
20 world titles, being 1,2,3 in 11 of the 20 events, this is the situation we
have faced in our sport, in past years & also many future years, with
Italians & Americans, the equipment won the event, not the athlete.

Coach Australia , world championships Belgium,
Australia wins first ever medals 2 gold & 1 silver, Lee Hollis at 14 years
10 months, youngest ever World senior champion, winning the 2 person elimination
sprint, defeating 3 current Italian world champions in the quarter final, semi
final & Final, Cheryl Begg nee Millar, wins her first of 3 world titles.
This is only Australia’s 4rd ever appearance at world
championships.
1980
Manager Australia world champs New Zealand,
some great thinking administrators come up with the idea that if you have a
relative in the team you can’t be the coach. THIS IS ONE OF SPORTS BIGGEST
PROBLEMS, THOSE WHO DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT MAKING DECISIONS.
Fortunately a new national coaching director,
from an outside sport, told them To wake up to themselves, you need your best
coaches on the job, the Australian future record at world champs could well have
been less.

1978 Immigrated to Australia, win Senior mens
5,000 & 10,000 Australian road titles
1976 & 1977
Placed in 16 out of 18 Senior N.Z. banked track
& road titles, 4 gold, 8 silver & 4 bronze. To bring N.Z senior. medal
tally to 46
In 1976, held N.Z. records for road 1,000,
1,500 & 20,000, plus endurance times, 25 miles, 50 miles & 50km banked
track, also 24 hour record on 100meter outdoor concrete track, wearing Hudora
Artistic skates & brown nevlon wheels, 246 1/2 miles, around 400km.
1975
At 28 I represented N.Z. at world champs, Mar
Del Plata Argentina Banked track May & September 1975 road, Sesto San
Giovani Italy, there was no worlds from 1969 - 1975.
1970
Won 1st individual N.Z. mens Title, the 1,000
meter road sprint at Napier, dual world champion Dean Hayes is second.
1965
Competed in N.Z. indoor champs Rotorua.
1963
Skate for the first time in my life,
at 17 years old, public session at Timaru rink, on strap on Hamaco
skates with laminated wheels.
