SEINAJOKI, Finland (Feb. 20, 2005) – The U.S. Junior Speedskaters at the 2005 Jr. World Championships concluded their weekend of racing with incredible results Sunday.

 

In the ladies’ 3000-meters, Nancy Swider-Peltz, Jr. (Wheaton, Ill.) skated to a fifth place finish in 4:29.32. Teammate Maria Lamb (River Falls, Wis.) finished in the top 10 with an eighth place finish in 4:32.82. Margaret Crowley (Winnetka, Ill.) finished 16^th in 4:37.63.

 

The women went on to skate to a strong fourth place finish in the team pursuit. Their finish time was 3:22.82.

 

In the men’s 5000-meters, Paul Dyrud (Plymouth, Minn.) finished in fifth place in 6:59.87. Teammate Michael Blumel (Woodbury, Minn.) finished 17^th in 7:24.63. Patrick Meek (St. Louis, MO) did not start.

 

In the men’s team pursuit, the US won a bronze medal with a finish time of 4:07.91.

 

In the overall standings, Lamb was the top U.S. ladies finisher with a fourth place standing with 172.403 points. Swider-Peltz, Jr. finished ninth with 173.782 points and Crowley finished 17^th with 177.079 points. (http://www.su-luistelu.fi/mm2005/Tulokset/l3000or.pdf)
