ERFURT, Germany (Feb. 13, 2005) – The World Cup concluded Sunday with some strong 
performances by U.S. long track speedskaters.

In the ladies’ 500-meters, Elli Ochowicz (Waukesha, Wis.) finished 18th in 39.30. 
Manli Wang of China won the event in 38.13.

In the 1000-meters, Jennifer Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) barely missed a spot on the 
podium with a fourth place finish in 1:15.93. Teammate Chris Witty (West Allis, Wis.) 
finished seventh in 1:16.93. Ochowicz finished 14th in 1:17.91.

On the men’s side, the top U.S. finisher in the 500-meters was Joey Cheek 
(Greensboro, N.C.) finishing sixth in 35.34. Casey FitzRandolph (Verona, Wis.) 
finished seventh in 35.36. Tucker Fredricks (Janesville, Wis.) finished 12th in 
35.79. Kip Carpenter (Brookfield, Wis.) finished 18th in 36.04.

Cheek was again the top U.S. finisher in the 1000-meters with an eighth place finish 
in 1:10.01. FitzRandolph again finished one place behind Cheek with a 1:10.29 finish 
in ninth place. Nick Pearson (Veron, Wis.) finished 14th in 1:10.57, followed by 
Carpenter in 15th place in 1:10.68. Derek Parra (Orlando, Fla.) finished 18th in 1:11.28.

Fredricks finished fourth in the 100-meters in 9.69. Teammate Marc Pelchat (Wales, Wis.) 
finished ninth in 9.22.
