2005 North American Marathon Speedskating Championships
and
Vermont Ice Marathons at Lake Morey

Greetings fellow skaters,
The 2005 North American Marathon Speedskating Championships will be held on Jan 15 & 16 on Lake Morey in Vermont. The races are hosted by the Montshire Speedskating Club and sanctioned by US Speedskating and Speed Skating Canada. This is our fifth year of hosting marathon races. There  will be a full weekend of speedskating races with 1, 2, 5 and 10k Citizen's Races open to skaters of all ages and abilities and  25k and 50k Championship Races.

Lake Morey has been covered with smooth black ice with miles and miles of skating and we look forward to having a large oval for the races. Exciting developments for this year's races include -

1) Electronic chip timing provided by Marathon Skating International
2) Inclusion of this year's races in the 11 race Marathon Series sponsored by Marathon Skating International
3) Relaxed entry requirements allowing race day sign up
4) A weekend race license available from US Speedskating (US citizens)
5) One fee for all four Citizen's Races

Race headquarters will once again be at the lake side Hulbert Outdoor Center. Reservations for the banquet, meals and lodging at Hulbert must be received by Jan 8 ( 802-333-3405, Lynn_daly@alohafoundation.org).

Entrants in the 25 & 50k races must be a member of USS, SSC or other ISU affiliated organization and entries made through US Speedskating at  U.S. Speedskating Meets . USS offers a $10 weekend race license to US citizens. After Jan 13, entries must be made at race headquarters with a $10 late fee.

For additional race information regarding lodging, directions, race schedule, etc., go to  Marathon Skating International .
