1,200 Skaters Set to Participate in Third Annual

Walt Disney World Inline Marathon Weekend on May 1

U.S. Olympic Speed Skaters Jennifer Rodriguez, K.C. Boutiette to Compete

What:   The Third Annual Walt Disney World Inline Marathon Weekend will include 1,200 inline skaters from across the country and around the world. The race benefits the National Skate Patrol.

Who:    U.S. Speed Skating Olympians Jennifer Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) and K.C. Boutiette (Park City, Utah) will compete in the marathon and participate in the awards ceremony (10 a.m.).  Both athletes are hoping to represent the U.S. at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.  Rodriguez is the first Cuban-American to compete and medal in the Winter Olympics, winning bronze in the 1000m and 1500m events in 2002. Boutiette, who is married to Rodriguez, is a three-time Olympian (’94, ’98, and ’02).

Where/ 
When:   Inline Marathon Expo and All Star Kids’ Classic -

      Saturday, April 30:
      Expo: 10 am - 6 pm (admission is free) / Kids Races: 1pm - 2pm
      Disney’s Wide World of Sports (Milk House)

          The Expo will feature product demonstrations and the newest inline skates and
          skating equipment. Rodriguez, Boutiette and fellow Olympian Chris Thorpe (luge)
          are scheduled to participate in a panel discussion from 2-2:30 pm. An autograph
          session will immediately follow.  … The All Star Kids’ Classic races are open to
          children ages 3-12. Registration for the Kids’ Races will be available prior to the
          weekend and during the Expo for $5. All participants will receive medals.

      Walt Disney World Inline Marathon and Half Marathon
      Sunday, May 1:
      Races: 6:15 am (start time)
      Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex (start/finish lines)

          Registration remains open through Apr. 30 - $80 (Marathon) and $65 (Half
          Marathon). Entry fees are non-refundable/non-transferable. All inline finishers receive a medal at the completion of the race. … The 13.1 and 26.2-mile courses will pass through Epcot, the Disney-MGM Studios and other Walt Disney World Resort areas.
