VISTA, Fla. (September 10, 2004) – The Third Annual Walt Disney
World Inline Marathon Weekend will take place Saturday, April 30

the globe are expected to participate in this highly anticipated
event at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. The race,
benefiting the National Skate Patrol, will include Military
Divisions for the first time for male and female competitors
representing all branches of the armed services – Air Force,
Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy.
The Marathon
and Half Marathon races are set for May 1, 2005 at 6:30am with
both start and finish lines at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.
Participants will skate through two of Disney’s world-famous
theme parks - Disney-MGM Studios and EPCOT.
“The Walt Disney World Inline Marathon continues to receive an
overwhelming response from the inline skating community,” stated
Mike Millay, director of sports events for Disney Sports
Attractions. “Based on the success of our event the past two
years and the growing interest in inline skating, we hope to
create another exhilarating event for participants, vendors and
spectators.”
The Inline
Marathon Weekend kicks off on April 30 with an Inline Expo at
the Milk House at Disney’s Wide World of Sports, featuring
product demonstrations and the newest, most advanced inline
skates and skating equipment. The weekend also includes popular
Kids’ Races for children ages 3-12. Registration for the Kids’
Races will be available during the Expo, prior to the race, for
just $5. The races will take place between 1-2pm. All
participants will receive medals.
The Inline
Marathon and Half Marathon Awards Ceremony will be held
following the races at 10am on May 1. Awards will be presented
to the top three male and female finishers in the Professional
and Professional Master race divisions for the Marathon only.
The top three Marathon and Half Marathon finishers in each age
category of the Open Division will also receive awards, along
with the top three male
and female finishers in the Military Division, who
will also be eligible for age division prizes. All inline
finishers will receive a finisher medal at the completion of the
race.

participating athletes from across the country and around the
world compete to stay in shape, to achieve personal-best times
and often to raise donations for charitable causes. Popular
