Who are the people behind Bont Skates?

Inze Bont - CEO / R&D

Inze is regarded by many as a genius. He has a knack for knowing what will and won't work even before testing it. He can solve any problem put before him. If you need a way of doing something, just give him a few minutes and he will have worked out a way of doing it better. Every day he comes up with so many ideas, we can't keep up with them. He is always working on something new. He is the inventor of the modern speed skate that everyone wears today.

Sara Bont - Managing Director Bont Skates International

There is probably no-one in the world who loves skating more than Sara. She loves talking about skating, coaching skaters, she skates when she has injuries, and she was even skating whilst pregnant with me (Alex). She has won numerous state, and national championships on inline and ice and is regarded as the mother of speed skating. Inze and Sara first met whilst ice skating in Sydney.

Alexander Bont - International Marketing Manager

Alex started working with his dad at the age of 12 cutting boot liners by hand during his school holidays. At age 15 he was making boots by himself as an employee of Bont Skates. He went on to get a degree in Business Computing from UNSW and completed his postgraduate course in Marketing also at UNSW. He has raced, trained and coached all over the world in short track ice, inline, long track, and quads. Alex spent 7 years on the Australian national Short Track team. He is now the Marketing Manager of Bont Skates.

Rebecca Bont

Rebecca started skating at the age of 8, because 'everyone else in family did, and it was too cold to sit on the side for hours'. She learnt to skate in Cantebury skate school (where she later coached kids), joined Flyers Ice Racers. Skated for 11 years in Australia, NZ, US, and Canada. She stopped skating in 1998 to pursue career in Fashion.

Rebecca studied Fashion Design for 4 years, working in Australia and Europe for past 8 years for various Fashion Houses. In July 2002 she returned to work for BONT to Design and co-ordinate all Bont apparel.

Glenn now shares his knowledge with the speed community for Bont, joining the company in 1999.  You can see Glenn at various events in the US and Canada, check here for his schedule.  He will be happy to answer all your questions about Bont product, and mold you for custom boots.
